Today, I had the pleasure of once again running one of Brisbane's most picturesque hotspot fitness locations, New Farm Park Run. As with all Park Run’s this event was not just about the physical challenge but also about soaking in the beauty of the surroundings and the vibrant community spirit.
The Route
Starting at the iconic New Farm Park rotunda, the route will take you along the Brisbane River, offering stunning views of the water and the city skyline and millionaires’ row on both sides of the river. While the route transverses a very busy throughfare of cyclists, dog walkers, market goers and scenic walkers it is completely flat meaning you could set a fast time if you have a good side step. On the day that I did teh run, 1st February it was very hot and very humid. With no breeze and no tree cover the event needs you to be heat acclimatized. Having said that it is an amazing park run and very enjoyable.
Scenic Highlights
One of the highlights of this run was the flowing river which follows from start to finish. Combined with the picturesque gardens where the race starts and finishes it will not disappoint as an oasis of nature in teh middle of the city. Depending on the time of year you may be treated to the full bloom of the park's famous rose gardens which will give an additional splash of color to the scenery. Running past the historic Powerhouse, now a cultural hub and place for the weekly farmers markets will also add a unique blend of nature and urban charm to the experience.
Community Vibes
New Farm Park is not just a place for runners; it's a community hub. Families were out enjoying picnics, children were playing, and fellow runners and walkers greeted each other with friendly smiles. The sense of community was palpable, making the run feel like a shared experience rather than a solitary endeavor.
Reflections
As I completed my run and took a moment to stretch and cool down, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to run in such a beautiful and welcoming environment. New Farm Park offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, historical landmarks, and community spirit, making it a must-visit for any runner in Brisbane.
Final Thoughts
If you're looking for a scenic and enjoyable run in Brisbane, New Farm Park should be at the top of your list. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just starting out, the park's picturesque routes and vibrant community will make your run a memorable one.
